Troubleshoot F5 SSLVPN Issues

f5 Error message:

A Connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection.

Step 1:  Determine if another user can connect to the sslvpn with the same machine. If connection is successful , you know this is not an issue with the machine.

Step 2: Try logging into the machine with another user profile, preferably a domain admin account or local admin (f5 can sometimes be a bit finicky when connecting without having admin rights).  If you can successfully login with another user account, you know the other user profile has an issue (i.e. something preventing it: software, adware, malware, etc.).

Step 3: Make sure local firewall rule is running and only one anti-virus (AV) application is running. Some AV will cause connection issues because the required ports is being blocked or the application itself will be blocked by the application.

Step 4 : Make sure you can ping the destination host. If ping fails to the host, then you know you have a routing issue or ISP issue; either on the host side or locally.

Step 5: Try uninstalling the WAN mini-port (IP) and wan mini-port (PPTP).

1) Open registry and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Note: you may want to export the root folder "4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318" before deleting anything, just in case you need restore anything.

2) Open this root folder and find sub-folder that displays "WAN Miniport (PPTP)" in the right pane. Now delete the sub-folder containing "WAN Miniport (IP)"
In this example, I located my two drivers located in folder "0012" and "0016" . I right clicked on each folder and selected "Delete".

3) Open Device manager, select "Network Adapters" and then click view option on top and select "Show hidden devices".

4) Right click on WAN Miniport (PPTP) , uninstall. Do the same for WAN Miniport (IP)

5) Reboot computer

6) open RUN and type in netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
7) Open command prompt, run as administrator and type in netsh int ip reset
8) reboot machine and test SSLVPN
